ABOUT ME

Jianhan (Joanna) Xu

UCSD Computer Science & Astrophysics

Software Engineer

Cosmology Lab Assistant

Hi there, I'm Jianhan (Joanna) Xu. I study computer science and astrophysics at UC San Diego. I am graduating in June 2019. I work as a tutor for the Computer Science Department at UC San Diego since September 2016. I have tutored two courses that cover Java, C and assembly for the past year. I also work for the cosmology group at UC San Diego. We cooperate with institutes around the world to build POLARBEAR-2 telescopes in Chile.

I am a stargazer -- I have been obsessed with the night sky since many years ago. I own a Meade LX70 8'' Newtonian reflector telescope. During free times on clear nights I will go out with my friends to do astrophotography, or just look for Messier objects -- galaxies and star clusters etc. It has been my favorite event since high school, where I joined the astronomy club and held daily and weekly observations at the observatory at school.

Music is my other caffeine. I play the piano, and I'am learning drum set and electric guitar.
